Through circumstances best left unenumerated here I found myself listening to Fresh Air on CBC early Saturday morning. Jeff Goode played a song by Lesley Pike and announced that she would be playing at Revival, a club on College Street that night. I found her performance and the song interesting enought that later that morning I looked up her website where she had a widget with all of the songs on her latest album. I was hooked and was decided that I would make the trek downtown to her show that night. She is currently touring with Katie Rox on a tour they are calling The Gentlemen Prefer Blonde's tour. After struggling to make it to little Italy on a Saturday night through the traffic we reached the venue for the advertised 8 p.m. show slightly after. Not to worry, shows never start on time but I was a bit disappointed to find all the draft taps inexplicably dry. The barman after pulling down all the handles to demonstrate suggested it was done to taunt and disappoint the draft lovers. The show began shortly after nine with Lesley Pike on first. She put on a set that didn't disappoint playing both the keyboard and the guitar. Between the songs she entertained us with stories including one of how she and Katie got rearended in her car while on the way to a radio station to do some promotion. Then Katie Rox took the stage put on an entertaining set including her own stories and her take on the pirate meme. She also dropped the eff bomb but don't tell her mom. The $10 cover change was a bargain and I'd encourage you to check out these two talented singer/songwriters when they come through your town. Tour info can be found on their websites. I have also dropped the cool widget from Lesley's website in below so you can sample her music. My favourite song is A Million & One which will probably fill Ms. Pike with chagrin because it is more poppy than her usual fare. On the other hand she must like it a bit because she did put it on her album.

I almost forgot to add that the two singers did one song together to end the show. Unfortunately I left my digital camera at home but I did have my wife's cell phone camera, hence the low quality of the picture at the top of this posting. I had a nice chat with Leslie at the merchandise table after the show where she signed my CD, which explains why she has made it only IMetWayne.com

Many months ago I heard someone on Twit talk about registering IMet"insert name here" to make it easier to find their site. It sounded like a cool idea so I immediately registered IMetWayne.com. This blog is where I post pictures and comments on my occasional brushes with famous people or pictures of other things I find interesting.
